New Patient Health Checks
New patients registering with the Health Centre are offered a health check. These checks are free of charge and are important as they enable the doctors and nurses to assess and monitor your health needs and offer appropriate treatments. It provides us with an insight into your health, well-being and lifestyle. Please make an appointment with our nurses.
Registered Patients who have not attended the health centre within the last three years, should make an appointment to see one of our Doctors or Nurses.
Family Planning/Sexual Health
All doctors provide family planning but not all appointments for family planning or sexual health advice require a doctor. Our nurses can also provide factual advice, information, treatment, and repeat prescriptions for contraception and the morning after pill. The Health Centre also provides cervical screening for female patients. Please telephone our receptionists who will allocate you the next available appointment.
Dr Barbara Fair and Dr Martin Cunningham are sports medicine specialists, who can provide a specialist advice in this area.
Minor surgery clinics are provided by Drs Cunningham and McCartney, assisted by our nursing team. A number of minor surgery procedures, including the removal of skin tags, warts, cysts and moles, toenails, joint injections etc are performed. Minor surgery appointments cannot be booked directly, they must be confirmed by a doctor.
The Health Centre provides travel advice and vaccinations to those patients who, through their course of study or work, may travel abroad. Some vaccinations are not NHS funded and attract a fee. Any patient planning to travel should make an appointment to discuss their travel arrangements and vaccination requirements as soon as possible, as some vaccination programmes may last several weeks.
Please book appointments with our nurses well in advance of departure date as some vaccination programmes can take a few weeks to complete.
